" Throughout my lessons with Kate, I learnt sophisticated Spanish grammar which helped me during my A levels as I was able to have a grasp on complex grammatical rules and understood them more than others because Kate taught me them early. Her teaching methods cover all of the necessary components in learning a language to help her students achieve their best in learning the Spanish language with fun exercises in grammar, listening, writing and conversations on various topics to ensure these criteria are hit. Finally, having Kate as a tutor for nearly five years helped me to pass my GCSE Spanish in high school and, following her excellent teaching of more complex Spanish following my completion of this qualification, also aided me to pass my A level Spanish exams in June 2018 leaving with an A grade. My Spanish teacher at college did not know that I had been home tutored showing that Kate is just as capable and professional as school teachers. " When my husband Ken and I bought a retirement home in Spain, we thought it would be rude to live in a country without any understanding of the language, so we searched the internet for a local Spanish tutor. We were specifically looking for someone who had UK English as a first language and could teach European Spanish, rather than for example a native South American Spanish speaker, so they would appreciate where we were starting from. Kate has a good sense of humour and is very patient, which she needs to be, given we are well past the optimum age for starting to learn a foreign language. She uses a variety of teaching styles to keep us engaged, tailored the lessons to meet our needs and challenges us with something new every week, whilst reinforcing earlier learning so that it does eventually stick. Ken never thought that his fifty-year-old Latin ‘O’ level would ever come in useful, but it certainly helped when conjugating verbs. "My daughter was approaching her GCSE’s and needed some extra help with her Spanish. I never studied Spanish at school myself so there was nothing that I could do to help. The school promised extra support but this wasn’t really working out - so I decided to look for a tutor for her for a year. I was lucky enough to come across Kate on a tutor website. She quickly engaged my daughter in extra work and met with her on a fortnightly and then weekly basis. She was reliable and my daughter seemed to enjoy the time she spent studying with Kate. She achieved a grade 6 in her Spanish GCSE and I am sure that she wouldn’t have reached this grade without Kate’s tuition. Kate's teaching style and consistent approach gave my daughter confidence in the language that she would not have had without her. Tutoring does come at a cost but it proved to be worth it in this case."

" I have used tutors in the past for maths for two of my children, and so I set about trying to find a Spanish tutor. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as finding a maths tutor, and I found it really difficult to find a tutor locally. We had a paid trial with a tutor who sadly my daughter did not gel with, and he appeared to be quite impatient when she did not understand. This is the last thing anyone needs when struggling, and does not improve confidence.

Therefore, I was back to the drawing board when I found Kate, and what a find, she is exactly what a tutor should be patient and understanding, encouraging thus promoting a calm, happy learning environment. Kate tailor made the lesson to suit my daughters personality, whilst still following the curriculum.

My daughter has greatly improved in Spanish, and it shows at college, plus she is now far more enthusiastic about learning the language.
